The bill doesn’t know what problem it’s trying to solve. For more Vox analysis: http://www.vox.com/2017/1/5/14179258/obamacare-repeal-republican-votes-trump You can read the bill here: http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/06/politics/house-republicans-obamacare-repeal-replace-text/ https://waysandmeans.house.gov/wp-content/uploads/2017/03/03.06.17-AmericanHealthCareAct_Summary.pdf Subscribe to our channel! http://goo.gl/0bsAjO Republicans in the House have finally released a bill to repeal and replace Obamacare: the American Health Care Act. The GOP healthcare bill keeps some of the most popular parts of Obamacare, like letting young adults stay on their parents' health insurance until age 26 and requiring insurance companies to cover people with pre-existing conditions. But the Republican bill gets rid of the key element that made Obamacare work: the individual mandate. Now that people aren't required to have insurance, healthy people could leave insurance pools en masse, leaving sick people who are more expensive to cover. Hypocrisy is a minor sin in politics, but still, it is remarkable how much of it there is to be found in this legislation. A core Republican complaint when Obamacare was passed was that the law delayed many of its provisions in order to reduce public outcry and manipulate the CBO’s score. The GOP bill is similarly aggressive with such tricks, delaying changes to the Medicaid expansion until 2020 and pushing Obamacare’s tax on expensive insurance plans out until 2025. Because Republicans aren’t even trying to win Democratic votes, they’re stuck designing a bill that can wiggle through the budget reconciliation process (another thing they complained about Democrats doing). That means they can’t make major changes to insurance markets like repealing Obamacare’s essential benefit standards or allowing insurance to be sold across state lines. That last part is particularly striking, given that it was one of President Trump’s five demands in his speech last week. I’ve always been skeptical about the savings Republicans could wrest by changing those regulations, but now they can’t get those savings at all — which means sacrificing a key part of their theory of cost control. This bill has a lot of problems, and more will come clear as experts study its language, the Congressional Budget Office release its estimates, and industry players make themselves heard. But the biggest problem this bill has is that it’s not clear why it exists. What does it make better? What is it even trying to achieve? Democrats wanted to cover more people and reduce long-term costs, and they had an argument for how their bill did both. As far as I can tell, Republicans have neither. At best, you can say this bill makes every obvious health care metric a bit worse, but at least it cuts taxes on rich people? Is that really a winning argument in American politics? In reality, what I think we’re seeing here is Republicans trying desperately to come up with something that would allow them to repeal and replace Obamacare. This is a compromise of a compromise of a compromise aimed at fulfilling that promise. But “repeal and replace” is a political slogan, not a policy goal. This is a lot of political pain to endure for a bill that won’t improve many peoples’ lives, but will badly hurt millions. Due to a manipulation of Senate rules, Republicans have created a healthcare bill that will only be open for debate on the Senate floor for about 90 seconds – possibly as long as 2 minutes if things get crazy. This bill could strip more than 30 million of their health insurance coverage and destroy Medicaid, and the best the Republicans are willing to give us is 2 minutes. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains how this is possible.   Linkhttp://americablog.com/2017/09/graham-cassidy-obamacare-repeal-get-2-minutes-debate.html Ring of Fire needs your help! Republicans at the US Senate are still working to pass their destructive healthcare bill, specifically the Graham-Cassidy Amendment that would not only repeal the Affordable Care Act, it would put in place a series of provisions that has been called Trumpcare 3.0. Now, you would think that such a huge piece of legislation would get a lot of time to debate. You would think that they would want people to talk about this bill, to understand this bill, to analyze it, and figure out what the hell it's actually going to do to the American public. And that is why Republicans have used this very specific rule to limit debate on this bill to 90 seconds. That's right, this piece of legislation that has the potential to strip 32 million American citizens of their health insurance is going to be debated for 90 seconds, possibly as long as two minutes. It might get an extra 30 seconds in there if things get really crazy, but they do not have any longer than two minutes to talk about this bill. Why? Because they're using this bill as part of the budget reconciliation act. It is not a necessarily a standalone piece of legislation, they're tacking it into the budget. And unfortunately, time for debate on the budget has completely run out, so they only have two minutes according to their own rules to debate this bill and give the public the facts. The problem is, most Republicans in the Senate, including those who actually support it, still don't know what's in the actual legislation. Vox did interviews with nine different Republican senators, and not a single one of them could accurately say what was in this legislation. The Democrats don't know because they didn't let them be part of the drafting process. There's been no debate, so nobody brought this to anybody's attention, but the fact of the matter is that Republicans are so desperate to repeal the Affordable Care Act, that they're pushing a piece of legislation that has not been scored by the CBO, that they don't even know what's in, and they're only going to allow us 90 seconds of a floor debate in the US Senate. What we do know from the piece of legislation is that it would essentially end Medicaid as we know it. Medicaid would be gone. They're going to roll back the Medicaid expansion, cut the funding for it, and then give the money for Medicaid to the states, at which point the states can either chose to spend that money on Medicaid, or anything else that they want. There's no provision tying them to have to spend that money on Medicaid, thereby we can deduce, since Republicans seem to hate Medicaid, that they're not going to spend it on there. 30 million children in the United States and half of all of the birth in these United States are covered by Medicaid. Suddenly, if this piece of legislation passes, 30 million children in the United States no longer have insurance. Half of the births in this country will no longer be covered by any form of insurance. What is that going to do to our health? It's going to result in more dead children. That's the bottom line. That is the only way to put that. Children won't be able to go to the doctor, they won't be able to get medicine, half the people in this country might not be able to afford to go to a hospital to give birth. They'll have to give birth at home or somewhere else, anywhere else. Turn to more dangerous practices in order to give birth that aren't going to give their children the proper care that they need right after they are born. People will die because of this Republican bill. These idiotic Republican senators don't even know what's in the legislation, and yet they're rushing to ram this down our throats, because they hate President Obama. That is the bottom line here. They want to hurt children because they hate Obama.

Brought to you by Desert Diamond: http://ddcaz.com WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Latest on the Republican effort to repeal and replace the Obama health law. President Donald Trump says he is deeply "disappointed" by the collapse of the GOP effort to rewrite former President Barack Obama's health care law. Trump told reporters during a lunch with service members Tuesday that Republicans have been talking for years about repealing and replacing "Obamacare," and is disappointed they couldn't deliver. Trump says it's time to "Let Obamacare fail," and says that "I'm not going to own it." He says letting Obamacare fail will encourage Democrats to come to the table and negotiate. Trump also says he does not blame Majority Leader Mitch McConnell for the decision by two more Republican senators to come out against the legislation, effectively killing the bill.

Republican supporters of the healthcare bill in the Senate are dropping like flies, so Republican leadership decided to throw a few extra bonuses into the legislation for the states of the holdouts. This tactic isn’t likely to work, as their opposition is based on the general effects of the bill, not on it lacking any personal incentives. Ring of Fire’s Farron Cousins explains.   Linkhttp://thehill.com/news-by-subject/healthcare/352187-gop-changes-graham-cassidy-bill-to-win-over-senators-wary-of-the Ring of Fire needs your help! LIKE and SHARE this video or leave a comment to help direct attention to the stories that matter. And SUBSCRIBE to stay connected with Ring of Fire's video content! Republicans in the U.S. Senate only have one week left to pass their disastrous health care law before they have to finalize the budget and get that passed with or without this health care legislation that they have tacked on as kind of an amendment-type thing to the bill. It's not a standalone; it's part of the budget bill. But since they continue to lose Republican support so far with Collins, Murkowski, McCain, and now even Ted Cruz and Rand Paul saying they're probably not going to support this piece of legislation, Republicans in the Senate have decided that if we can't win your vote with good policy, we're going to win it with bribery, and that is exactly what they're doing. Late Sunday night, Republicans in the Senate came back, started rewriting some portions of this health care law to include massive giveaways in the form of tax breaks to the states where the senators who oppose the legislation come from, specifically, Maine, Alaska, Arizona, possibly even Texas. Basically, what they're trying to do here is say, "If you pass this legislation, we're going to give you a little bit more money for your state. You know, here, it's not a bribe because it's part of the legislation, but once it gets passed, there's all of this money on the table, and I guess you should probably walk away with that and take it back to your state." Now this, again, perfectly legal form of bribery is one of the lowest insults that you could possibly imagine for these senators who are opposed to the current version of the health care law, because their opposition has nothing to do with the fact that they're not getting anything for their states. It has to do with the fact that they're not completely comfortable with passing a piece of legislation (1) that half the Senate hasn’t even read yet, (2) that the president doesn’t even know what's in it, (3) that doesn’t have a CBO score, and (4) and most importantly, that it's going to kick off 32 million people from their health insurance and result in tens of thousands of deaths by the year 2027 due to people not having health insurance coverage to be able to go treat conditions. That’s what makes them a little leery to sign on to support this legislation, and if the little bit of money that you're offering them is enough to go ahead and make them sign off on it, I doubt it's going to be enough to save their careers because it's pretty much a given that some of these Republicans who are opposed to it, some of them who are a little bit more moderate, will end up losing their jobs as a result of this vote once it turns out that this thing is as horrible as every analyst who's looked at it has said it is. This legislation, according to analysis, is going to kill people. People will die from this legislation. That is the intent of it. It's not like, "Oh, accidentally we had some casualties here." Stripping people of their health insurance coverage, 32 million people to be exact, including 20 million children, yeah, they're going to die. If you can't afford your EpiPen because your insurance no longer covers it because you don’t have insurance and you have an allergic reaction, you die. If you have diabetes and you can't afford your insulin because you don’t have health insurance anymore, you die. If you have asthma and you have a severe asthma attack, but you don’t have an inhaler because you couldn’t afford it because you don’t have insurance, you can die. That’s the bottom line here, folks. That is what we're dealing with. This isn't hyperbole. This isn't conflating the argument. This is what happens, and it still happens to people every single day in this country, and Republicans want it to happen even more, but a few of them have enough sense ... Some, they're only doing it for political reasons. Others, because maybe they're trying to save their legacy. Whatever the reason at this point, this piece of legislation should be the only thing that dies when we talk about health care coverage in the United States.

All eyes are on Capitol Hill where Senate Republicans are desperate to come up with 50 votes to pass a controversial and unpopular healthcare bill that would do away with the Affordable Care Act. The Graham-Cassidy bill will allow states to opt out of covering pre-existing conditions one of the most popular features of the Affordable Care Act, though states have to explain how they "intend" to keep those people covered. _ Listen, download and subscribe to the ALL NEW Roland Martin Unfiltered Audio Podcast on iTunes http://ow.ly/Hctl30eeN19 Visit Roland Martin's NEW digital lifestyle and information website http://AllThat.tv Hit the thumbs up button and subscribe to the channel to see more content like this. http://bit.ly/2ubQ9NV Want more Roland Martin?
